| Since
the 1960's Therapeutic Horsemanship in the United States has grown to serve
people who face physical, developmental, emotional or psychiatric challenges.
Lisa May holds a Masters Degree in Social Work. As a Licensed Clinical Social
Work supervisor for a psychiatric rehabilitation program, Lisa has developed
therapeutic horsemanship programs especially for people challenged by serious
mental illness and also for women survivors of trauma. She is a speaker
at regional and national conferences addressing horsemanship for challenged
adults. Lisa is certified as an instructor by the North
American Riding for the Handicapped Association.
The benefits of Therapeutic Horsemanship include improved physical condition, posture, balance and mobility; increased confidence, independence, and achievement; socialization and mentoring; bonding with an animal; development of a sense of safety and trust. |
Through your work with my child you made a difference in the lives of everyone in our family. Nicky W. |
