Hello, I'm Les Crockett,

"My Heart Will Go On"

I was born and raised in Crisfield, Maryland, just a few houses from (then) governor Tawes' home. When I graduated from high school he presented me with my diploma. Not far down the road lived Steve and Lem Ward, probably the most famous of all Crisfielders. They were the original "waterfowl coumterfeiters" and their carvings are world renown today. There were the rugged watermen who I always loved to hear tell their tall tales in my uncle's store at Jenkins Creek. Steve and Lem were there to as it was a local gathering place for the "down neckers". Growing up in a town such as Crisfield, surrounded by people who worked and loved working in the outdoors and when they weren't working, played in the outdoors, it was only natural for me to love the outdoors to. Oh the beautiful sights I've seen as a boy hunting and fishing with my dad. If only I had a camera then. I've been a shutterbug now for quite some time. I bought my first camera, a 35mm Pentax Spotmatic SLR, while serving in the Navy (1968). I'm still using it today! I took a lot of pictures of airplanes, ships, and things before focusing on the outdoor and nature aspect of photography. This was a natural transition for me because of my love for fishing and hunting in the marshes and waters around Crisfield. Crisfield is but one of many small towns which are situated on the Delmarva Peninsula. An area which is made up of the entire state of Delaware and the eastern shores of Maryland and Virginia. This is where I do most of my photography. Delmarva has expansive landscapes and seascapes just waiting to be captured on film, not to mention the bountiful wildlife living in the forests and marshes around here. So today I hunt with a camera and my prize catch is a good shot every once in a while. I've taken pictures of Skipjack oyster boats, wild Chincoteague ponies, waterfowl and other migratory birds, and many other scenes from around this beautiful Chesapeake Bay Country of ours. I hope you enjoy looking at my photos as much as I've enjoyed taking them.
