My wife's mother has the connection to the Earp's but Im doing the search....

What I have so far is: (not connected yet)

Walter Earp, born approx 1790 in Virginia

Had at least 2 sons: 
Loranzo Earp, born approx 1812
and
Nicholas Porter Earp, born approx 1818 in Virgina

and they had at least 1 child:
Walter M. Earp, born in 1836 in Kentucky

Nicholas Porter earp married Virginia Ann Cooksey approx 1840-41 (2nd wife)
and they had:
James Earp, born 1841 in Hartford, Kentucky - died 1926 LosAngeles, Ca
Virgil Earp, born 1843 in Hartford, Kentucky - died 1906 Goldfield Nevada
Wyatt Earp, born 1848 in Monmouth, Illinois - died 1929 LosAngeles, Ca
Morgan Earp, born 1851 in Pella, Iowa - died 1882 Tombstone, Arizona
Warren Earp, born in 1855 in Pella, Iowa - died 1900 Willcox, Arizona


My wifes family's connection goes like this....
	When the Earps left the east and moved west one line went into Texas,
 when the family settled in that area the name was changed to Arp from Earp. 
 The family story says that "Earp" sounded like belching so the E was removed 
hence the name Arp.  I believe that Wyatt is a distant cousin.
	This story was relayed to me by my mother-in-law and while I was 
visiting Tombstone, Az, the woman that was running the gift shop in the Court 
House gave me the same story after I was asking about the Earp line, but she 
said that another woman told it to her that was from Texas and that her family's 
legend. I then told her what my mother-in-law told me.... So I have the same 
story from 2 different sources unkown to one another.... I Never did find out
 who the woman was from Texas...

had at least 1 son:
William Henry Arp, born 26 Jan 1877 in Decatur, Wise, Texas - 
died 25 Apr 1960 Paducha, Cottle, Texas

So as you can see Im trying to connect Hubert Earp and go farther back......
